St. Coletta is a non-sectarian, nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization.
Tuition for our school program is paid for each student by the local school jurisdiction that refers him/her for service. While tuition covers the basic educational costs for each child it does not provide for all the special things that make for a stimulating and enriching environment. For our adult programs, fees are paid by the local jurisdiction’s Community Service Boards and Medicaid. Those fees do not cover the cost of the adult program. To make up the difference, St. Coletta relies on the generosity of individuals, corporate and foundation donors.
Ten percent of the children at St. Coletta live in foster care or group homes and nearly three-fourths of our students qualify for the National School Lunch program, an often used measure of poverty. St. Coletta becomes a second home for the individuals we serve; the place they celebrate birthdays and holidays and where they develop friendships. Your gifts can help us provide the things like holiday presents, special trips, Special Olympics uniforms, swimming lessons and parties. Your gifts can also help with adaptive equipment and communication devices necessary for independence. Fifty percent of the students and adult clients at St. Coletta have difficulty speaking or cannot talk at all. Communication devices that give voice to their feelings, wants and needs are essential for the human interaction that makes life meaningful.
We are always working to better serve our students, adult clients and their families. Your gifts also help us pilot new programs and provide ongoing training for our staff.
