Who We Serve

Student raising his hand St. Coletta is a nonsectarian, nonprofit organization that serves children and adults with autism, intellectual and physical disabilities. Our students and clients come from all over the Greater Washington area. More than half of our students qualify for the federal free lunch program, an often-used measure of poverty.

School Program

St. Coletta operates a school and two adult day programs serving over 335 individuals with cognitive disabilities. Our school program is located in Washington, D.C. in a state of the art building completed in 2006. For DC students the school is a public charter school and for Maryland and Virginia students, it is a private school. This unique public/private partnership allows us to meet the needs of different school systems.

Student in a wheelchair Adult Programs

We operate two adult programs in Virginia and will be opening one in Maryland in September, 2008. In Alexandria we have an adult day program along with our St. Coletta Shop that sells fused glass made by our clients. For Arlington County we operate the Woodmont Weavers, a group of artisans with cognitive disabilities who weave and sell their products in their retail/studio space at Ballston Common Mall. Our new program in Rockville, Maryland will also be a St. Coletta Shop and sell fused glass and weaving.
